Export Google Docs to PDF on Your Phone (Android & iPhone)

Updated 2026-09-06 · DocsAll Guides

Quick answer: in the mobile app open the doc → ⋮ (top right) → Share & export → Save as PDF.

Android

  1. Open the doc, tap ⋮
  2. Share & export
  3. Save as PDF → generated and downloaded
  4. Open or share it straight from the notification

iPhone / iPad

The iOS entry point is deeper (the most-asked mobile question):

  1. Open the doc, tap ⋮
  2. Share & export → Save as PDF
  3. If the option is missing, use the print channel: Print → pinch out on the preview (or tap Share) → save to Files

Common mobile issues

No "Share & export" in the menu? You are probably in a browser, not the Google Docs app — install the app and sign in with edit permission.

The exported PDF will not open? Open it from your file manager via the notification; some browsers block automatic downloads.

Need to shrink or merge after export? Open Compress PDF or Merge PDF in the mobile browser — they process files locally, no upload.
