FAQ

Q: What is HEIC format?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhone iOS 11+. It is about 50% smaller than JPG but has less compatibility — many websites, software and older devices do not support it.

Q: Will quality degrade after conversion?

JPEG quality is set to 90 during HEIC to JPG conversion — the visual difference is imperceptible. HEIC → decode → JPG re-encode is one lossy step, but at quality 90 the difference is minimal.

Q: Are files uploaded to a server?

No. HEIC decoding runs via WebAssembly locally in your browser — files stay on your device throughout.
